Centenary of Public Education in New South WalesPrint Page
The plaque commemorates the centenary of public education in New South Wales from 1848 to 1948.
A week of celebrations will be held throughout New South Wales from Monday to Friday, April 19 to 23, to mark the centenary of public education in this State, says the Minister for Education (Mr. Heffron). Mr. Heffron is asking all mayors and shire presidents to call public meetings with the object of forming centenary committees in every town and suburb. Celebrations will be arranged in every school and college. There will also be town celebrations in all towns where committees are formed, and central celebrations in Sydney.
