Vietnamese Boat People Monument Print Page
The sculpture of five Vietnamese boat people, comprised of bronze, symbolises the immense struggle, hardship and sacrifices endured by the Vietnamese in search of freedom and democracy and recognises the Vietnamese community's contribution to Bankstown. A plaque was unveiled at the site in April 2011 and the sculpture was unveiled unveiled on the 4th November 2011.
Vietnamese-Australians had played an integral role in shaping the city of Bankstown and commemorate the sacrifices and hardship of thousands of Vietnamese people who lost their lives in the pursuit of freedom, democracy and human rights.
