The fountain commemorates the former Mayors and Lord Mayors of Hobart since 1853. A plaque was added to the fountain in 2013 to commemorate the 50th anniversary.

This plaque commemorates the 50th anniversary of this memorial fountain, originally designed by Geoff Parr, Rod Cuthbert and Vere Cooper.
Refurbished in 2013 incorporating a new mosiac by Tom Samek

Inspired and planned by the City Development Association
Opened on the 4th February 1963 by Sir Stanley Burbury K.B.E. Chief Justice of Tasmania
