District Council of Hawker
1888 - 1988
This plaque commemorates the Centenary of Local Government in this area.
The District Council of Hawker was proclaimed on 5th January, 1888 with Councillor S. J. Jones as the first Chairman.
The Chairman at the time of the Centennial was Councillor H. J. Spiers.
Unveiling of this plaque was carried out on the 16th September 1988 by the Premier of South Australia the Honourable John Bannon M. P.
