Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth IIPrint Page 
The trees commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.
Hilton Primary School P&C Assn Inc received funding of $11,000 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant trees, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will enhance the tree canopy and provide additional habitat for native fauna.
Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.
Just letting you know that you will see some beautiful new trees being planted around our school grounds tomorrow. There will be 17 established trees planted throughout the grounds, our thinking for species choice and positioning has been based on the following: stock availability, Cockatoo foraging, WA native, shade, speed of growth, and interest of flowers/seed pods/sensory opportunities for our kids e.g. tactile, colour, smell etc.
On Friday 29th the students will have the opportunity to plant 24 younger trees throughout the school as part of National School Tree Day. Then we will hold a Busy Bee on Sunday 31st (National Tree Day) to tidy up plantings, mulch around trees and stake as required. More info to come! This project received funding from the Australian Government’s Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program.
