Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth IIPrint Page Print this page

The Jubilee Garden commemorates the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.

Waddington Primary School received funding of $5,500 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant native trees, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will attract and support native wildlife and enhance the wellbeing of the community.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

Waddington opened their Queen’s Jubilee Garden with a community tree planting event today. The garden honours the Queen’s 70 years of service as Australia’s Head of State. It includes seats and a water feature, making it the perfect place for quiet reflection or having fun. It was great to join the staff, students, Councillor James Rowe JP, City of Wanneroo and representative from Anne Aly`s office for this special event.

Waddington Primary School.
We were fortunate to gain a grant from the Australian Government’s Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program. Her Majesty The Queen was committed to improving the tree canopy and our garden is now full of beautiful native plants which will grow tall and strong through the years. We have used the funding along with some school funding, to create a quiet, commemorative space for our students and school community. We would like to acknowledge Bunnings Balcatta for their
donation to our school of the beautiful seats you see. Thank you to Meredith Hammat MLA and Councillor James Rowe Jp - City of Wanneroo for the official unveiling and to Anne Aly for her support of our funding application and for sending her lovely representative. We hope our community loves the garden as much as we do!
