The trees commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.  

The trees were planted on the 29th July 2022 and the tree planting ceremony was held on the 4th November 2022. 

Alinjarra Primary School received funding of $9,000 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant native trees, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will beautify the oval precinct and enhance shade for students.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

Since receiving the Trees for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Grant, we have started the huge project of beautifying our school oval area. On Monday and Tuesday we had the bobcat remove the grass for the gorgeous spaces where we will planting the trees and eventually making into garden areas. After school on Tuesday the Year 6 River Rangers started the enormous task of digging the 30 holes our trees to be planted into today. We are looking forward to seeing them grow. Every class will adopt a tree to care for.
