Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth IIPrint Page Print this page

The trees commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.

Southern River Community Garden Inc., received funding of $4,300 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant trees at the community garden, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will enhance the tree canopy and attract and support native wildlife.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

What a great morning in the garden. We had the official opening of the Queen's Jubilee Tree Garden and our renovated patio. Both projects funded by federal (Burt) grants via Hon. Matt Keogh. We were delighted that the Minister, Matt Keogh, Terry Healy, Member for Southern River and Mayor of City of Gosnells, Terresa Lynes were able to join us and stay for morning tea. Their support for the Garden is very much appreciated.
