Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth IIPrint Page
The trees commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.
Northside Christian College Inc., received funding of $10,000 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant advanced trees, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will enhance shade for students, improve community well-being and provide additional habitat for native fauna.
Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.
Representatives from year levels across Northside Christian College gathered this morning to commemorate Her Majesty the Queen’s Jubilee and to give thanks for the new trees in our central courtyard. The special assembly began with an acknowledgment of the traditional stewards of the land on which Northside Christian College resides.
As a community, we are grateful for an opportunity to recognise the Queen’s life of Love, Faith, and Hope demonstrated through incredible service over 70 years. Mr Michael Bond, College Principal, highlighted that the Queen’s faith was an important part of her life and something she spoke about regularly.
Northside Christian College received funding for this tree planting project from the Australian Government’s Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program. The College expressed gratitude to the Hon. Ged Kearney MP, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, and the Australian Government for their financial support for this project.
Mr Bond also acknowledged and thanked the College’s Property Manager, Mr Stephen Nelson, for his support with the planning and planting of the trees. The College also recognised Mr Darren Griffiths and Mr Cameron McInnes for their assistance with this project.
The objective of the Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program was to mark the occasion of the Queen’s Jubilee through community tree planting events across Australia. The program is also intended to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee, create a legacy of tree plantings across the nation, and increase the area of tree canopy in our communities.
