The trees commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State. 

Avenel Museum Courthouse Public Rec and Playground Reserves received funding of $14,850 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant trees at Jubilee Park, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will enhance the tree canopy and provide shade for the community.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

You are invited to attend the Commemorative opening of the Avenel Queens Jubilee Tree Planting initiative on Wednesday 7 December, 2022 at 10.30am at Jubilee Park off Livingstone St, Avenel. The event will include speeches, unveiling of commemorative plaque and morning tea in the tennis clubrooms. 

This initiative has been delivered to you by the Avenel Jubilee Park Committee of Management with funding  of $14,850 via the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, Biodiversity and Conservation: Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee Program which delivered 18 significant trees to provide permanent shade and beauty within the park and in recognition of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee year.
