Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth IIPrint Page Print this page

The trees commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.

Goulburn Murray Landcare Network received from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project planted trees at Nagambie Pump Station.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

Last week we planted with Lockington Consolidated Primary School at the Pine Grove Cemetery to commemorate the Queen and Jubilee, 190 native trees and shrubs were planted, guarded and watered. Thanks to Uncle Rick for welcoming us to country.

We then we teamed up with Goulburn Valley Water and Nathalia Primary School to plant 120 natives to increase biodiversity and beautification of a town pump station. These events are important to instill and foster land stewardship in our future leaders.
