Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth IIPrint Page Print this page

The trees commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.

Brimbank City Council received funding of $10,000 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant an avenue of trees at Glengala Road, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will beautify the local environment and raise awareness of The Queen's Jubilee.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

Enjoyed tilling the soil in the rain yesterday along with Brimbank Councillors and Cr Jasmine Nguyen - Brimbank Mayor as we planted a tree to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Some 20 trees have been planted along Glengala Rd in Sunshine West as part of Brimbank City Council, Creating Streets for People program. The project, funded by a $10,000 grant from the federal government, is part of Council’s efforts to increase green spaces and encourage residents to walk/cycle
to local activities.
