Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Queen Elizabeth II Platinum JubileePrint Page

The trees were planted, and a commemorative plaque unveiled, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee and acknowledge her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.
The project received funding of $4,290 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant trees at the Bundaleer Forest Reserve, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will enhance the tree canopy, improve the amenity for visitors and provide habitat for local fauna.
Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.
Last Sunday we honoured Her Majesty the Queen’s 70 years of service as Australia’s head of state by commencing the planting of 70 trees. 18 Eucalyptus sideroxylon or Red Ironbark were planted, with the remaining 52 trees to be planted next autumn. Thank you to vegetation consultant and long-time Bundaleer supporter Anne Brown for planting the first tree. We were also honoured to have Nukunu elder Darryl Thomas and MP for Frome Penny Pratt join us, and many of our dedicated My Bundaleer families who all enjoyed a delicious High Tea by Tracey Zerna and beverages by Splendid Co following the tree planting.
