Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Queen Elizabeth II Platinum JubileePrint Page

The trees were planted, and a commemorative plaque unveiled, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee and acknowledge her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.
The project received funding of $20,000 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant native trees at the Crater Lakes Botanic Gardens, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will beautify the local environment and enhance the tree canopy.
Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.
To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee marking 70 years of service of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the City of Mount Gambier and children from Reidy Park Primary School planted trees at the Elizabeth Knight Reserve on 5 September 2022. The Australian Government funded the tree-planting program and complemented other initiatives across the Commonwealth to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee.
A Book of Condolence to honour the life of the Queen can be signed at the reception at the Civic Centre.
