Queen Elizabeth II Platinum JubileePrint Page Print this page

The trees were planted, and a commemorative plaque unveiled, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee and acknowledge her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.

The project received funding of $6000 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant native trees at the Mary Valley Rail Trailhead, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will enhance the tree canopy and encourage community engagement.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

We spent Saturday morning planting trees on the Mary Valley Rail Trail. Thanks to those who dropped in for a cuppa. Llew O`Brien MP.
