Queen Elizabeth II Platinum JubileePrint Page Print this page

The trees were planted, and a commemorative plaque unveiled, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee and acknowledge her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.

The project received funding of $9,000 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant trees, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will enhance the tree canopy and provide shade for the community.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

The Rotary Club of Gladstone Midday was awarded $9,000 for the Planting Trees for The Queen's Jubilee program in the Boyne Valley.  The objective of community-based tree planting events for The Queen’s Jubilee is to increase awareness and celebration of Her Majesty’s Jubilee, create a legacy of tree plantings across the nation, and increase and enhance the area of tree canopy.

This round of planting was extremely special as it is an important reminder to this community and visitors of the amazing Queen Elizabeth II. A Queen who lived a life of service to her country and the Commonwealth. Above all, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Today the area was officially opened. Congratulations to the committee on a wonderful outcome, how good does does it look!?
