Queen Elizabeth II Platinum JubileePrint Page Print this page

The trees were planted, and a commemorative plaque unveiled, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee and acknowledge her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.

The project received funding of $5,500 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant trees, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will beautify the area and attract and support native wildlife.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

Alsahwa Retreat will join with Queensland Koala Crusaders and Sunshine Butterflies for the Queen's Jubilee Tree Planting event this Sunday 25 September from 9am. This will provide a refuge and safe haven for wildlife and the event will close Save the Koala month.  At the commemorative event, a plaque will be unveiled at the site where 500 trees will be planted, honouring the Queen's 70 years of Monarchy. Federal Member for Wide Bay Ted O'Brien MP will host the event which will be followed by a BBQ lunch.
