Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth IIPrint Page
The trees commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State. 42 trees were planted along the Pineapple Rail Trail and the remaining trees were offered to local schools in the area,
The project received funding of $12,000 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant 70 native trees, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will provide shade, support native wildlife and raise awareness of The Queen's Jubilee.
Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.
We received news that our Landcare application for funding to participate in a Queen's Jubilee Tree Planting program has been successful. We are looking to plant an avenue of native trees at the beginning of the Rail Trail at the Yeppoon Rd end, adjacent to the golf club.

Today we had a team of 18 volunteers planting an avenue of 42 trees at the head of the rail trail, as part of our tree planting grant. Great work by the team to get the job done. Special thanks to Mick Hogan at the LSC Community nursery for his help by growing, selecting & delivering the trees to site, and his input into the planting details..

On the 26th October we are hosting a Commemorative Event to celebrate the completion our project funded by the Australian Government's 'Planting Trees for the Queen's Jubilee Program'. The avenue of trees planted by our volunteers back in August at the Rockhampton Rd end of the Rail Trail are looking good - thanks to both regular rain fall and the ongoing watering assistance provided by The Real Group.
