Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Queen Elizabeth II Platinum JubileePrint Page

An English Oak was planted, and a commemorative plaque unveiled, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee and acknowledge her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.
The project received funding of $3,000 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant a Verdun Oak tree, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will raise awareness of The Queen’s Jubilee and increase shade for park users.
Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.
A tree planting ceremony and barbeque lunch will take place on 16th September to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
"We hope our shire residents will join us for this special occasion with a barbeque lunch after the official proceedings," said Mayor Rick Firman. "To have reached her Platinum Jubilee is a marvellous achievement for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and we feel honoured to be able to mark it with such a special occasion. An English Oak has been selected as the celebratory tree which will leave a lasting impression for the future generations. The tree will stand tall and proud in Callaghan Park, reminding us all of the outstanding life's work of our beloved Queen," he said. "We will also welcome our Federal Member for Riverina, the Hon Michael McCormack MP, who will be our special guest at this important ceremony."
This project received funding from the Australian Government's Planting Trees for The Queen's Jubilee Program.
