Queen Elizabeth II Platinum JubileePrint Page Print this page

The trees were planted, and a commemorative plaque unveiled, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate her Platinum Jubilee and acknowledge her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State. Three Kurrajong Trees were transplanted in the park and represent recognition of our colonial and indigenous history, reconciliation of indigenous and non indigenous Australians and renewal which celebrates the future and our youth.

The project received funding of $5,800 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting Program which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant trees, install a commemorative plaque and hold an event in honour of The Queen's Jubilee. This will beautify the local environment and enhance the tree canopy.

Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

North Star Public School students can now enjoy a greener and shadier outdoor learning area, thanks to trees that have been planted to commemorate the dedicated service of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the Commonwealth over the past 70 years.

Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton attended a commemorative event held at North Star Public School to unveil a plaque and the recently-planted trees to the community. "North Star Parents and Citizens Association received a $5,800 grant through the Australian Government's Planting Trees for the Queen's Jubilee program," Mr Coulton said.
