Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth IIPrint Page 
The trees commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and acknowledges her 70 years of service as Australia`s Head of State.
The project received funding of $18,500 from the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee Tree Planting to plant trees which will run from 2021-2024. The project will plant trees at Mogo Oval and the main street, install commemorative plaques and hold an event in honour of The Queen’s Jubilee. This will support revegetation of the area and improve community wellbeing.
Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. She was queen regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime, and was head of state of 15 realms at the time of her death. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.
Mogo is being refreshed with a permanent memorial to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Supported by the Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP with a $20,0000 Commonwealth grant, the first stage in the Mogo tree planting project has been completed with two beautiful Blueberry Ash trees and a memorial plaque unveiled today at Mogo Oval.
Mrs Phillips joined with students from Mogo Public School, members of the Mogo Village Business Chamber, and the local community to unveil the plaque. “With a literal rising from the ashes, these trees and the memorial plaque unveiled today are just one more step towards healing for this incredible community,” she said. “I’d like to sincerely thank the Mogo Village Business Chamber and the Mogo Local Aboriginal Land Council for their tireless efforts to get this community back on its feet. I am thrilled to support their recovery in any way I can,” she said. “Mogo is open for business and a simply glorious place to visit – so next time you are driving by, don’t forget to stop in for a visit.”
The project received $20,000 under the Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee Program, supporting eligible groups and organisations to honour The Queen and the legacy of her achievements during the year of her Jubilee through community-based commemorative tree planting events.
