The tree was planted by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Elizabeth the Second's reign.
The year 2012 marked the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II being the 60th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth 11 on 6 February 1952.
Queen Elizabeth II (21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was the longest serving English monarch, who reigned from 6 February 1952 to 8 September 2022 a period of over 70 years.
