Kapooka Military Area Monument : 25-August-2011

The 3 inch mortar mounted on a stone platform commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Kapooka Military Area which commenced operations on 1 May 1942.
A major Australian Army camp was constructed at Kapooka in 1942 and one year later there were 8,000 troops in training there with Wagga taking on the characteristics of a garrison town.
