Peace LoanPrint Page
During World War One, to finance the war the Commonwealth had a series of war loans, and then peace loans. To recover the cost of the war and fund soldier pensions the government launched 'Peace Loan' campaigns after the war. Peace loans were similar to the war loans where people loaned money to the government and received interest.
At the monthly meeting of the Oatlands Council the Warden (Mr. A. J. O'Conor) and all members were present. Action regarding the Royal visit was approved. A representative committee was appointed to take such further steps as will be necessary as to the strong post and exhibition of Mr. Moores sheep dogs. The peace loan tablet was received, and the Warden empowered to have it placed in a prominent position. The war trophies committee notified that two machine guns had been allottod to the district.
