Plaques at the base of four Phoenix Palm trees commemorate four sailors who were killed during a fire aboard the H.M.A.S. Westralia in 1998. The fire involved the combustion of a quantity of diesel fuel in the engine compartment, with the four sailors being killed and the ship disabled.
