The plaque and storyboard commemorate the six men who were killed in the Riverstone Meatworks Fire in October 1970. The men were killed when the roof collapsed while they were attempting to lead animals waiting for slaughter to safety.

Who lost their lives attempting to rescue animals trapped by a fire at the Riverstone Meatworks on Thursday 8th October 1970. 

This memorial was erected as a joint project by :
