Campbelltown Hospital Acknowledgement PlaquePrint Page Print this page

The plaque acknowledges the Dharawal People, the traditional owners of the land on which the hospital now stands and pays respect to past, present and emerging elders.

On Monday 12 December 2022, Aboriginal Elder Uncle Ivan unveiled the Acknowledgement to Country plaque inside the new main entrance at Campbelltown Hospital.

Attended by hospital representatives, including General Manager Grant Isedale, Aboriginal Elders and community members, the event highlighted the hospital’s continued commitment to providing a welcoming space for all communities.

Senior Aboriginal Liaison Officer Raylene Blackburn said the event marked another step on the journey to reconciliation.
"The plaque acts as a reminder of our story, our history, and the hospital’s commitment to our community,” Ms Blackburn said. The plaque acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land, the Dharawal people, and pays tribute to the land on which the hospital is built.”

Designed to be a culturally safe and inviting space for all, the new hospital building offers a welcoming environment and showcases Campbelltown Hospital’s commitment to the people of the South West.
