An oak tree was planted in 1895 to commemorate the establishment of the Tyabb School in 1891. The Oak Tree became the official school emblem in 1978 and a plaque was erected by parents and students.
A time capsule was placed at the site during the 150th Anniversary of the State of Victoria in 1984-85.
