120th Anniversary Cottesloe Primary SchoolPrint Page
The trees were planted to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Cottesloe Primary School. The trees planted (Marri, Tuarts and Rottnest tea tree and pine) provides the school and wider community with benefits such as shade, habitat for birds and energy savings, once the canopy is established.
Cottesloe Primary State School opened on October 1st, 1896 in the St. Columba's Presbyterian Hall at the corner of Venn and Keane Streets with an enrolment of 30 children. During 1897 four classrooms were erected on the present site and 208 children moved in on April 18th, 1898.
