The wooden honour roll commemorates former students and teachers who attended Maggea School which opened in 1919 and closed in 1967.

The most prominent building in Maggea was the local limestone and red brick quoined hall. It was completed with volunteer labour in 1918 in time for the 1919 school year to begin in the hall. The Maggea School began with twelve students in 1919 and closed with nine students in 1967.
