Dear Monument Australia visitors, we are a self-funded, non-profit organisation, dedicated to recording monuments throughout Australia. Over time the costs of maintaining this website have risen substantially (in fact they are probably larger than those of many companies who exist for profit). In the past we have borne all the costs associated with maintaining the website but we are now having difficulties in paying the monthly expenses.
If Monument Australia is useful to you, please make a donation to keep this historical and educational resource available. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
25th Anniversary of Inner Wheel ClubPrint Page

A wooden seat near the Wallace Statue commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Inner Wheel Club.
Rotary was formed in 1905 in Chicago and soon spread to other countries. Many similar Clubs under various names were formed to help Rotarian husbands. However, it was the Manchester Club which in 1924 provided the name and model rules upon which the Inner Wheel movement is based.
The emblem is a small wheel contained within the Rotary Wheel, hence the name Inner Wheel. At an early stage in its existence Inner Wheel began to spread overseas and, in Australia, Ballarat, Victoria held the first interest meeting during 1931.
