This public art piece celebrates the region’s traditional community and the strong links between TAFE, the Broken Hill City Council and the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery.
As our celebration for NAIDOC week continues, we are able to share these Story Poles captured by our YRG, outside of the Regional Art Gallery.
Plaque description:
“These Story Poles illustrate a project completed by the Aboriginal Arts & Cultural Practices Certificate II class of 2002 and was delivered at the Arts & Media Section in the Broken Hill Campus of the Western Institute of TAFE NSW by artist & teacher Geoff DeMain.
Each student researched their own design and represented it by carving an image into river red gum poles.
