The plaque commemorates the opening of "The Bluestone Cottage" in April 1983.
The Bluestone Cottage was built in 1864 and occupied by the Smith family and their descendants until 1981. It was bought by the Coburg City Council in 1981 and has been the headquarters of the Coburg Historical Society since 1983. It was classified and listed on the Register of Historic Buildings in 1988.
