The plaque commemorates 80 years of service to the community by the Thebarton Women`s Service Association from 1921 to 2001.

The development of the community spirit among women has resulted in the formation of a new society, the Thebarton Women's Service Association. Many ladies who are engaged in furthering the interests of the town from the woman's point of view, responded to the invitation of the Mayoress (Mrs. J. L. Leal) to meet at the Thebarton Town Hall, and the following officers were elected:— President, Mrs. J. L. Leal; Vice Presidents, Mesdames E. S. Christophers, J. P. Wilkes, and H. Cooke; Hon. Secretary, Mrs. Willsmore; Hon. Treasurer, Mrs. Dunne. The executive will consist of the officers and a delegate from each subcommittee.
