The mural was funded by the Thomas Hutchinson Trust in recognition of the support received by the Trustees, Chairman, Board Members, staff and the community from 1911 to 1994.
The mural represents the many patients and groups of workers both paid and voluntary who contributed to daily life. The plaque on the mural contains a detailed history of the hospital.
Hutchinson Hospital which was erected as a bequest from Thomas Hutchinson (who died in 1901). The Hospital was to be maintained by the income from the balance of his estate. It became the Gawler Health Service in 1994.
