10 Years of Gardening by Mont De Lancey VolunteersPrint Page
The tree commemorates ten years of gardening by Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead Volunteers.
Pioneer Henry Sebire, stonemason migrated from Guernsey in the Channel Islands arriving in Melbourne,1850. In 1867 Henry together with wife Martha and 4 children settled in Wandin Yallock, where Henry leased 80 acres of newly-surveyed Crown Land, they cleared the bush to grow food for the growing Melbourne population. In the 1880s Henry built a solid brick home from bricks fired on the property. Generations of the Sebire family continuously lived in the home until it was donated by members of the family to the Community in 1993 becoming a Not for Profit tourist attraction which is run by volunteers.
