Macedonian Memorial Pavilion Print Page
The Pavilion is a place of reflection for members of the Macedonian community in memory of those who are interred in the cemetery.
After the body is buried, family and friends gather for a wake, where mourners can connect with each other, reflect on the life of the deceased, and eat a meal, called a “mercy meal.” It provides an opportunity for the relatives and friends to refresh themselves and remember their loved one in an informal setting. Traditionally fish is served as a sign of fasting and mourning that the departed has left this life.
