Centenary of Rotary Project
1905 - 2005

This gazebo overlooking Mornington Harbour was provided to the community, for the benefit and enjoyment of citizens and visitors accessing this beauty spot, to commemorate the Centenary of Rotary International in 2005.

The first Rotary Club was formed in Chicago USA on February 23, 1905, by a young lawyer, Paul Harris, meeting with three of his friends.  Rotary is now a world-wide organization comprised of 1.2 million Rotarians who meet weekly in more than 31,000 clubs across 166 nations.

The Rotary Club of Mornington the first on the Peninsula, was charted with 18 members on May 29, 1947.
