Three Springs Hall

In 1947 it was decided that six thousand five hundred pounds should be borrowed in order to buy a disused R.A.A.F. picture theatre from Geraldton, to replace an outgrown 35 year old hall then in existance.  This was done, and the building dismantled, transported and reassembled with a brick front for use as a hall.  Mr. F. Cardilini carried out this work.

The Three Springs - Arrino Sub-Branch of the Returned Serviceman`s League and the Shire combined together to publish a booklet to commemorate the official opening of the hall on 21 June 1949.  That night, at a ball held to celebrate the occasion, twenty debutantes were presented to this Excellency the Governor Sir James Mitchell G.C.M.G., who had officiated at the opening ceremony.  The R.S.L. organised the ball with the support of the Shire and the North Midlands District Hospital Board, proceeds from the night were presented to the hospital.

For the next 35 years the hall became the focal point of the communities social activities, being used for many and varied purposes, some of which were dances, movies, weddings, birthday parties, sporting wind ups, touring entertainers, badminton etc.

In 1983, the Recreation Centre was built.  The hall was then used for indoor cricket for a couple of years, then home to the Tourist Bureau until 1998.

A `Farewell to the Old Hall` ball was held in October 1998, proceeds of which were presented to the North Midland Ambulance Service.

This memorial was erected by the Three Springs community in memory of the role that the hall played in the lives of the community over many years
