THIS PLAQUE, UNVEILED ON 23rd MARCH 1963, MARKS THE COMPLETION OF THE FIRST STAGE OF THE BEAUMARIS MEMORIAL COMMUNITY CENTRE AND THE OPENING OF THIS HALL ERECTED FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANDRINGHAM, AND IS SET HERE TO COMMEMORATE THE VISION OF THE PARENTS AND CITIZENS ASSOCIATION WHICH CONCEIVED THE IDEA OF THE COMMUNITY CENTRE IN 1952 AND THE PUBLIC SPIRIT AND DEVOTED SERVICE OF THE RESIDENTS OF BEAUMARIS WHO ARE CO-OPERATING TO PROVIDE FOR THE SPIRITUAL AND MORAL WELL-BEING, PHYSICAL COMFORT, HEALTHY RECREATION AND CULTURAL INTERESTS OF THE WHOLE COMMUNITY
