This plaque commemorates the completion of 50 years of service to the various communities around Australia, Papua New Guinea and Norfolk Island.

Thanks to a dream by Lion William R. Tresise,  Lions began in the city of Lismore in July 1947.

The anniversary was celebrated by the holding of the National Convention from 19 to 23 May 1997.
