The plaque commemorates the 900 personnel from Horsham, Southern Mallee and Wimmera Regions who formed the Horsham based 19th Machine Gun Battalion (23rd Brigade).
It also acknowledges their contribution to the defence of Darwin from enemy attacks between 19th February 1942 to 1944.
