The Milne Bay Memorial Pool (now known as the Milne Bay Aquatic & Fitness Centre), was officially opened by the Toowoomba City Council in 1960 in memory of the 25th Battalion from the Toowoomba region who served in the Battle of Milne Bay during World War Two in Papua New Guinea.
