In memory of hundreds of Australians, 154 from the 2/12 Battalion who gave their lives during the battles of the Beach Heads in 1942-43, at Gona, Buna and Sanananda. These battles were arguably the finest feat of Australian arms in World War II, where almost 100% of the Japanese Army were destroyed and their vital base captured. These battles resulted in the threat of invasion of Australia being removed.
Erected by 2/12 Aust Inf. Bn. Assoc, Veteran
Affairs and the Atherton Shire Council.
