In memory of the 148 Darwin enlistees who departed Darwin by air during October 1939 for service initially with the 2 / 3rd Field Regiment 2nd AIF.
These men went on to serve in various units in the UK and in the Middle East, Greece, Crete and New Guinea Campaigns.
They were the first soldiers to be allocated the prefix DX
