The Plaque commemorates those who served in 51 Wireless Section during World War Two.
51 Wireless Section was one of the 11 Field Sections of the Australian Special Wireless Group, AIF. They were part of General Douglas MacArthur and General Thomas Blamey`s new top-secret intelligence unit called Central Bureau which comprised Australian Army, RAAF and US Army personnel. They were stationed at Coomalie Creek near the airfield from 1942 until 1945.
