Moltema Roll of HonourPrint Page
The wooden honour roll commemorates those who served in World War Two. It lists 29 names.
The unveiling of the honor roll took place in the Moltema Church Hall. Cr. D. J. Griffin, who was in the chair, introduced Rev. Chamberlain and the Warden (Cr. R. P. Furmage). They spoke of the large number who enlisted from the district, 29 names being on the roll, and of the debt that was owed to members of the services. Mr. H. Williams sounded the Last Post, in memory of H. Field, who died while a prisoner of war. The unveiling was performed by Mrs. G. Ralston, whose one son and two daughters were in the services.
Advocate (Burnie), 17th December 1946.
Note : the “Tasmanian War Memorials Data Base” , compiled by Fred Thornett which is located at the State Library of Tasmania, contains a comprehensive listing of the names on this honour roll.
