The set of stained glass windows commemorates men and women of the parish who served in World War Two.

About 600 people attended the unveiling of a war memorial window and The Book of Remembrance at St. Columba's Church, Hawthorn, yesterday. The window is the first of two to be erected to commemorate the 340 men and women of the parish who served in the war. Archdeacon A. L Bulbeck, assisted by the Rev. N. C. Paynter, unveiled the window and the book. The dedication was made by the Rev. H. B. G. Shepherd who also preached the sermon. The rector (Rev. C. W. E Swann) said that a collection raised more thar £100 for the UNAC fund.
