The plaque commemorates the 66th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbour and honours the thousands of United States troops who passed through Melbourne during World War Two.
The attack was the catalyst for the United States of America joining the war and triggered an alliance in which more than 100,000 troops passed through Melbourne on their way to battle.
