Methodist Church Book Of RemembrancePrint Page Print this page

The Book of Remembrance commemorates those from the Methodist Church Wellington Circuit who served in World War Two.

Wellington Memorial.
The unveiling of a beautifully finished Lectern containing a Book of Remembrance, in which are inscribed the names of all service personnel associated with Wesley Church, took place on the 11th November, 1948. Rev. W. C. Francis, D.C.M., performed the ceremony of dedication, and gave an inspiring address based on the action of David's mighty men carrying water from the enemy-held well at Bethlehem. The preacher reminded us that life, country and worship have been bought at too high a cost for us to fritter them away. We were all under a very real obligation to live at our best and to make the most of our high privileges. Wesley's memorial as well as every other memorial is worthless unless it constantly reminds us of these things. "You are not your own; you were bought with a price; then glorify God in your body."
